Pentax is moving backwards when all of those other digital SLR
kingdom goes forward. The newest version involving Pentax mid-level
DSLR is a pentax k-5; the
older version could be the Pentax K-7. It doesn't sound right. Why
isn't it a higher number than the former one? Go figure.
More important than the name are the upgrades. Is this new camera worth your attention? And, by the way, which one has the higher customer rating? More on that later. to 16. 3-megapixels.
- There is an increase in the continuous shooting rate with 5. 2
frames per second to 7 fps.
- ISO has recently been refined to go completely up to 51, 200
rather then a paltry 6400.
- There's also been an increase from the 12-bit RAW bit deep to
14-bit.
- Video recording has also been improved to full 1920x1080p at 25 fps rather then 1536x1024p (they were the only real ones with that size video that's rather unusual).

- Having a camera that's weather resistant is important when you are out in the substances. The Pentax models either sport a magnesium alloy body over a stainless steel frame, and they are weather-sealed for that needed protection. So go ahead and jump in the snow or surf using either.
- Another great feature of Pentax DSLRs may be the image stabilization that is built into the body rather than being dependent upon your lens IS.
- Also, every lens made to get a Pentax SLR is appropriate for the newest models. This can be a huge advantage for those who are old Pentax owners.
